We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist, Intern for our P&DS Sustainability team.

Role Purpose

To become a member of our new P&DS Sustainability team in Milan (Italy) which specialises in the analysis and development of Net Zero Carbon (NZC) buildings and property portfolios.

Join our diverse team of engineers and sustainability professionals, which enables us to guide our clients through all sustainability requirements for projects, combining NZC with equally critical sustainability criteria, maximising opportunities to deliver best-in-class sustainable developments. This also provides a great environment for personal learning and development.

What This Internship May Involve, which is a plus from your side

Reviewing existing buildings from site surveys, as built information, EPCs, energy data and quantify a building's key energy performance factors

Developing thermal energy models (using dynamic simulation tools such as IES VE) to define the building's system (i. e. building installations) and architectural requirements

Developing CRREM decarbonization scenarios based on energy models results and energy data

Support development of LEED and BREEAM Certifications

Understanding a building's engineering and building fabric factors to determine an efficient NZC building design and renovation strategy

Working with our in-house cost management team to evaluate CAPEX of NZC design solutions

Developing ESG Due Diligence including analysis of energy systems and energy performance

Understanding of building and RES regulations in Italy and in EU

Understanding of carbon offsetting strategies and Power Purchase Agreements

Undertaking whole life carbon assessments

Understanding of indoor environmental quality comfort metrics for occupiers

A passion for sustainable and NZC buildings

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

A knowledge of building fabric elements related to energy efficiency

An Architectural or Engineering Master Degree or equivalent qualification in Sustainable Design

Competent in AutoCAD

Knowledge in LCA

Understanding in wider sustainability consulting, such as BREEAM, LEED and WELL is an advantage
