We are currently looking for a Sustainability Specialist in the Sustainability Team based in the Milan office.
As the Sustainability Specialist, you will support business teams and work closely with others on a daily basis.
You will ensure that all IKEA requirements related to sustainability are met by IKEA business partners in Supply Area South.
This will be done by performing IWAY (IKEA Supplier Code of Conduct) and other traceability, sustainability compliance verifications, implementation, and support activities in accordance with all relevant working methods.
The purpose of the Sustainability Specialist in the Supply Area South is to support the business in implementing and verifying sustainability-related requirements.
The Sustainability Specialist is also responsible for ensuring that the IWAY (our code of conduct including sustainability strategy) and Supply Chain Security ways of working are understood and in place.
Your tasks will include: Plan and perform IWAY verification, implementation, and support activities, in accordance with IWAY Working Methods and all other relevant mandatory documents at IKEA business partners.
Perform initial sustainability compliance assessments for new suppliers.
Conduct root cause analysis of non-compliance and create understanding for the supplier to achieve compliance.
Gather and analyze information and facts to draw conclusions about compliance/non-compliance, using auditing methods, including in-depth interviews with individuals and/or group interviews with different parties at the supplier.
Secure timely and accurate verification information in the planning and reporting tools.
Work with the business teams to set priorities and goals for the Category and specific suppliers to execute sustainability actions/priorities.
Secure the collection, verification, aggregation, and reporting of sustainability data and provide relevant analysis to support business decisions for the development of specific suppliers.
Facilitate sustainability-related training for business teams and suppliers.
Plan and execute sustainability projects in the region and on a country level (e. g. , circularity, renewable energy, secondary raw materials).
Act as an ambassador of IKEA values.
Qualifications: University degree in sustainability or one of the following engineering fields (environmental, chemical, or industrial).
Good knowledge and understanding of sustainability-related global and local trends and their impacts on the total business.
Good understanding of different industrial setups, market-specific conditions, and macro-economic conditions.
Good understanding of different supply chains and ability to identify the links to create, lead, and execute sustainable business projects.
Knowledge of management systems: ISO 14001, SA8000, OHSAS, etc.
Knowledge of Energy Management systems: ISO 50001.
Understanding of the upcoming EU legislations such as EU-DR, CSRD, CSDDD.
Good understanding of IWAY, IKEA Code of Conduct, and good verification skills, with the ability to conduct verification activities.
Good knowledge of project management tools and methodology.
Interest in people's life at home; energy, drive, and commitment to deliver better products for many people.
Fluency in English, Italian, and Spanish (both spoken and written) is a must; Portuguese or French is a plus.
Honesty with high integrity.
Willingness to travel.
Strong analytical skills.
An active driver with a valid driving license.
