Role Purpose

To become a member of our new P&DS Sustainability team in Milan (Italy) which specialises in the analysis and development of Net Zero Carbon (NZC) buildings and property portfolios.

While the NZC building market is embryonic, we are gathering the best talent in the industry to create the leading NZC design team so that, together with other JLL business lines, we can provide our clients with the right strategic advice, design, construction and post construction monitoring and verification for NZC building solutions.

We are building up a diverse team of engineers and sustainability professionals, which enables us to guide our clients through all sustainability requirements for projects, combining NZC with equally critical sustainability criteria, maximising opportunities to deliver best-in-class sustainable developments. This also provides a great environment for personal learning and development.

What This Job Involves

Reviewing existing buildings from site surveys, as built information, EPCs, energy data and quantify a building's key energy performance factors

Developing detailed thermal and daylight energy models (using dynamic simulation tools such as Energy+, IES VE, etc) to define the building's system (i. e. building installations) and architectural requirements (App. G ASHRAE 90. 1:2010)

Developing CREEM decarbonization scenarios based on energy models results and energy data

Understanding a building's engineering and building fabric factors to determine an efficient NZC building design and renovation strategy

Working with our in-house cost management team to evaluate CAPEX of NZC design solutions

Developing ESG Due Diligence including analysis of energy systems and energy performance

A good understanding of building and RES regulations in Italy and in EU

Familiarity with development processes for renewable energy projects, including system dimensioning

Understanding of battery storage projects and grid connection, and potential for integrating these with renewable energy projects to Positive Energy Districts, Energy Communities

Understanding of carbon offsetting strategies and Power Purchase Agreements

What This Job May Involve, which is a plus from your side

Undertaking whole life carbon assessments

Understanding of indoor environmental quality comfort metrics for occupiers

Experience of undertaking financial / commercial appraisals of proposed energy projects

Combining NZC advice with broader sustainability advice on LEED, BREEAM, WELL, protocols

Working with colleagues to help shape comprehensive energy strategies, and sustainability offers

A passion for sustainable and NZC buildings

Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

Robust building services engineering and design abilities

A knowledge of building fabric elements related to energy efficiency

Very competent in BEM software for thermal and daylight modelling

An Architectural or Engineering Master Degree or equivalent qualification in Sustainable Design

Competent in AutoCAD and ideally Revit

Knowledge or experience in LCA is an advantage

Understating in wider sustainability consulting, such as BREEAM, WELL is an advantage
