Team Leader - Public Spaces Interior Outfitting
JOB PURPOSEReporting to the Site Director, the Team Leader, Public Spaces is responsible for inspecting the construction, development and outfitting of public areas as per the approved design and construction details.
You will be controlling the quality of the materials, the assembling, the manufacturing and the correct processes for completion and delivery.
In this role, you will highlight any discrepancies with the approved drawings, suggesting potential adjustments when minor issues are identified, to improve future constructions.
You will also be responsible for inspecting all public areas until the successful completion and hand-over to shipboard personnel.
As a team leader, you will also be responsible for managing other colleagues and stakeholders involved in the cabin's delivery process.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESEnsures that all public areas (both indoor and outdoor) are built within the set timescale and in line with the approved architectural design, contractual requirements, quality standards and functional requisites. Follows the architectural design implementation and development, maintaining accurate and up to date records of all activities and inspections, including remarks, defects, and other contractual discrepancies. Attends project meetings and prepares progress reports when required. Ensures that all materials used are compliant and in scope with the specifications and the architectural design, ensuring the quality is fit for its intended use, and is approved by class register if necessary. Suggests any minor adjustments, as they may be found necessary, on site and to follow the implementation and development of any architectural design changes. Highlights relevant aspects of the ship's architectural design that can be improved for future constructions. Keeps the Technical Site Specialists and other colleagues updated during the construction and commissioning phases, helping to ensure that technical accessibility and functionality of all equipment is duly verified. Highlights relevant aspects of the ship's architectural design that might jeopardise the functional requisites and that they must be improved for the current project, or can be improved for future constructions, with the New Building department's approval. Assists with Plan Approval activities as required. QUALIFICATIONSA Degree in Interior Design applied to shipbuilding or equivalent.
Significant relevant experience is also required. Substantial experience in delivering inspections within public areas and common venues onboard within shipbuilding, or refit projects within shipyards.
Experience in working onboard Cruise vessels, with some leadership experience will also be considered. Good knowledge of fire, thermal and phonic insulation is a plus. Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint) and the ability to use design programs such as AutoCAD. Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations. Ability to review new building specifications and drawings, with the ability to read and understand various engineering drawings. Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian is a plus. Some travel may be required if needed. VISA REQUIREMENTSThe existing right to work and travel in the EU is preferred.
