THE ROLEYou will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.

The Smart Bio-Interfaces Research Unit is coordinated by Gianni Ciofani. The research focuses on nanomedicine and microphysiological systems as testing platform for the developed nanovectors. This includes preparation and characterization of "smart" nanoparticles for theranostic applications and their assessment on complex in vitro models.

The Bio-Logic Materials Research Unit is coordinated by Paolo Netti. The research focuses on cell instructive materials and organ-on-chip devices. This includes nanoengineered surfaces to control cell fate, in-vitro fabrication of fully functional human tissues and integration them in organo-on-chip platforms for assessing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:

Fabrication of microfluidic devices mimicking the brain cancer microenvironmentTesting their functionalities with appropriate cellular modelESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSA PhD in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or similar disciplinesDocumented experience in Microfabrication, Cell culturesStrong publication recordGood command of spoken and written EnglishADDITIONAL SKILLSExperience in cellular testing, imaging through fluorescence/confocal microscopyKnowledge of finite element modelling software (COMSOL, ANSYS)Ability to work in a challenging and international environmentCapacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environmentPossess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindsetCOMPENSATION PACKAGEA yearly gross salary ranging between €24k and €27. 5k, which may include a bonus option depending on your role and contractPrivate health care coverage depending on your role and contractCandidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
