Test Director/Shift In Charge
TEST DIRECTOR/SHIFT IN CHARGE
The Test Director will report directly to the Test Coordinator.
He will be in charge of coordinating, supervising and preparing for the Precommissioning Tests for certain systems.
During plant commissioning he will assume the position of Shift in Charge, coordinating and supervising the activities related to plant operation and to the execution of all type of tests.
He will assist and cooperate with Client's Shift in Charge for all matters.
As Test Director his duties will include:
- verifying of the actual completion of the construction works, on the basis of the Final Construction Checks documentation (operational turn-over phase);
- supervising of component set-up and plant system alignment, in line with the foreseen procedures and with design specification;
- identifying of any construction deficiency noted during the performance of the Tests;
- participating in drawing up test documents and data sheets;
- reporting any improper functioning of components or systems, to analyse the causes, to suggest adequate corrective actions;
- preparing of the Test Reports regarding the systems assigned to him;
- to instruct and to train the personnel that he manages;
- following and supervising any work or intervention done on site, with special care for safety aspect;
- forwarding information to the Test Coordinator, including recommended corrective steps for any anomaly encountered
As Shift in charge his duties will include:
- supervising of plant operation with reference to the Operating Procedures;
- following and supervising any work or interventions done on site, with special care for safety aspect;
- analysing and assessment of test results and of the inspection activities performed by the Shift staff
- relaying information and instructions upon shift turnover;
- issuing work permits (he is the only authorized person), for emergency, preventive and
corrective maintenance.
The permit should include instruction for the safety of personnel and
equipment
- superintending all ordinary and emergency operations including the start-up operations
following a shutdown;
- updating the operating log book and draft technical reports on his work by informing the shift in charge of the next shift of the works being done to go ahead with the activity.
He should be mechanical technician or ship surveyor; have at least 4 to 5 years of experience as operator or long experience in similar position.
