**Role description

- new_cleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy its innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology.

We are looking for highly motivated, pro-active and talented analysts in the disciplines of neutronics, core thermal-hydraulics and fuel performance with various levels of experience.

They will join our ECD (Engineering Core Design) Unit, a multinational team in charge of the core design for the newcleo reactor projects in France and UK.

Based on his experience and area of interest, the post holder will undertake neutronics, core thermal hydraulics or fuel performance analysis in support to, or complementing, the actions ongoing or planned to target the design objectives on the different newcleo projects.

This will include both modelling the cores, its subsystems and the fuel pins of the relevant reactors as well as executing the calculations for the parameters of interest, in line with the established methods and procedures.

The post holder will also produce activity and methodology reports to be incorporated into the technical dossiers of the relevant projects.

For this position to succeed, a spirit of teamwork and collaboration is essential considering the multiple and continuous interfaces inside the ECD Unit.

**Main activities

- Based on his experience and areas of interest, conduct neutronic, thermal-hydraulic or fuel performance modeling and analysis to support the conceptual as well as the basic core design, using specific codes.

- Perform calculations and analyses to support the evaluation of the fuel cycle performance.

- Be aware of and familiar with fast reactor core analysis work being performed internationally, as well as related benchmark calculations and experiments being performed internationally.

- Interact with other ECD Unit members focusing on different disciplines facilitating the exchange of information.

- Contribute to the validation of the analytical codes and methods.

- Document work using modern tools and techniques, and produce well-written, thoughtful technical reports.

- Work collaboratively as part of a small agile team to ensure proportionate but best practice analytical support to core design.

**Desidered qualifications

**Education**:

- MSc in Nuclear Engineering or Energetic Engineering or Physics.

Languages:

- Working knowledge of English is a must-have.

- Fluent Italian, French is a plus.

Experience / Professional requirements:

For neutronics position:

- Experience of using deterministic of Montecarlo neutronic codes for core simulations, preferably in fast reactors.

- Familiarity with nuclear data; ability to install and process libraries is a plus.

For thermal-hydraulics position:

- Experience of using sub-channel or CFD thermal-hydraulics codes for core simulations, preferably in fast reactors.

- Familiarity with experimental thermal-hydraulics is a plus.

For fuel performance position:

- Experience of using fuel performance codes for core simulations, preferably in fast reactors.

- Familiarity with experimental fuel analysis is a plus.

- Familiarity with software programming and knowledge of Python scripting language are a plus.

- Attention to detail but with an ability to identify key data for effective problem identification.
