About the Role

You will underwrite proficiently medium to large Italian commercial and industrial corporates on a primary and excess level, including international business by building up and maintaining connections with relevant brokers and clients, generating a flow of submissions and promoting cross-selling opportunities.

**Main tasks/activities

- Entertain contacts with brokers and clients and sourcing of suitable business

- Triage new submissions; find opportunities to position Corporate Solutions on a programme at the earliest possible stage

- Underwrite the business; assessing the risk, coverage, terms and conditions; rate the business within the rating tool landscape

- Communicate proactively, timely and with transparency with clients and brokers to set the foundation for a positive outcome

- Underwrite the business within the guideline's context efficiently and optimally

- Negotiate with clients and brokers in cooperation with the branch manager or the distribution manager Interaction with other parties.

- Regular contact with brokers and clients

- Promotes positive interaction and collaboration with stakeholders, such as distribution managers, risk engineers, claims, contracts services, actuarial services, products underwriters, underwriter assistants etc.

**About the Team

We are the Property & Specialty underwriting team in Corporate Solutions, located in Milan.

We are a diverse, upbeat and dynamic team made up by 4 colleagues with different level of seniority and background, passionate about the job and eager to teach and mentor.

**About You

- Completed University degree in law, economics and/or engineering

- 3+ years of experience in the Italian direct property insurance market, underwriting medium to large corporates

- Ability to assess risks, coverages, terms and conditions of an insurance placement

- Flair for numbers and orders of magnitudes and the ability to deal with complexity and sometimes incomplete information

- Can you set priorities and allocate own resources by defining the appropriate level of detail?

- Comfortable in building relationships with clients and brokers, providing proven communication, presentation and negotiating skills

- Solution and result oriented

- Ability to work in a team environment and integrate other functions in the underwriting process

- Willingness to perform under time pressure during peak renewal periods, while ensuring adherence to processes and guidelines

- Able to cope with an irregular workload, sometimes hectic and with very short response times

- Italian first language; proficient English language skills are vital
