We are looking for an Urban Energy Leader to join our Sustainable Development (SUS) team within Arup Milan Office.

Your role: Leading the Urban Energy & Cities Decarbonisation activities of Arup Italy.

Coordinating the Urban Energy Hub as a centre of integration/excellence of different competencies and resources: net zero carbon policies at city scale, renewables advisory, urban energy infrastructures strategy and design.

Leading the Urban Energy market business development activities in Arup Italy, coordinating with the relevant Business leaders (Cities, Transport, Property, Energy).

Supporting the Climate & Sustainability portfolio activities in Italy (Specific focus on Climate services for external public and private clients).

Supporting the promotional activities of the SD (Sustainable Development) Leader and BIA (Business Investment Advisory) Leader in the energy and climate sector.

Supporting and enhancing the Europe Region Urban Energy network, personally and through the Urban Energy Hub.

Liaising regularly with key market players (Cities, Investors, Developers/Utilities, International Financing institutions, Corporates and Public clients) to identify and sense the market and being up to date on the pipeline of potential opportunities.

Creating and maintaining plans for strategic clients identified for Urban Energy and supporting the preparation of high-quality proposals.

Generating an impact in the market, by being expert voice.

Taking part in sector specific events and congresses to raise the visibility of Arup in the Energy & resources sector.

Expanding capacity and firm in European and national Urban Energy & Carbon policy development, strategies and action plans, in particular mitigation-decarbonisation solutions, and knowledge of associated energy transition solutions at city-scale.

Expanding capabilities on Urban energy strategy and design in coordination with Climate adaptation and resilience strategies alongside the ER Climate resilience and adaptation Service Leader.

Requirements: 10+ years of relevant work experience.

Expert use of industry guidance and techniques and a working understanding of models and analytical approaches used in the development of energy, utilities, and infrastructure business cases.

Experienced in quantitative policy analysis as part of the policymaking process in, for example: the energy, transport, or climate change portfolios.

Expert knowledge of leading economic models and the associated influencing skills necessary to unlock sustainable development opportunities across the energy, infrastructure, or transport sectors.

Assisting with business planning and feasibility studies, financial and cost-benefit appraisals, economics of energy and utilities regulations, strategic project appraisal and assessment of support mechanisms to facilitate low carbon solutions.

Ability to work with short lead-in times and strict project deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, including ability to engage actively with other team members and clients, and to communicate with impact.

Highly numerate, and comfortable with critical thinking and problem solving.

Strong knowledge of analytical and presentation tools, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Strong interest and proven capability in business development and client engagement.

Fluent in both English and Italian language.
