Role SummaryThe main objective of this role is to support the store management team in creating a store environment that promotes creativity, employee development, and the VIBE philosophy. Support the "Peers Training Peers" philosophy of Urban Outfitters.
What You'll Be DoingPeople: Ability to recruit, motivate, develop, and lead a teamManage performance development aspects within the department team (Performance reviews, Individual development plans, Coaching and Counseling, and disciplinary actions)Recognize and develop talented individuals for advancement and growth within the organizationSupport company standards and serve as a positive role model for othersLeadership and Communication: Lead by inspiring, motivating, and encouraging teamworkConduct productive daily meetings to ensure goals are metEffectively delegate projects while allowing others the creativity to succeed in making their own decisionsPossess excellent communication skills both written and verbalEnvironment Management: Oversee all levels of customer service by defining daily objectives and expectations to create a positive store environmentExhibit excellent presence on the floor by training and instructing the store team on customer service, standards, product placement, and time managementAchieve average results in the company's mystery shops while adhering to the company's customer service standardsOperations: Execute all store operational procedures accurately and timely, in accordance with all company policies and proceduresAchieve store loss prevention goals by supervising adherence to loss prevention practicesContribute to compliance with company health and safety regulations at all times to protect employees and customers from incidents and inconveniencesMerchandising & Display: Manage aspects of the assigned department in collaboration with the Department Manager (if applicable) or the Visual Merchandising Manager regarding: training, shipment placement, markdowns, transfers, merchandising, and store standardsUnderstand and interpret current fashion trends in local markets to generate creative solutionsTake an active role in ensuring that department floor sets are well organized and appropriately scheduledBusiness Awareness: Maximize department sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise, from receipt to saleUtilize company reports to respond to trends and drive businessStay updated on current trends and have a solid understanding of the customer profile by keeping abreast of external influences, such as media and the local communityManage inventory levels appropriately (considering the store environment) through understanding relevant reports and market trendsDemonstrate entrepreneurial skills to achieve and exceed store goalsWhat You'll NeedExperience in a managerial role in a fast-paced, high-volume fashion retail environmentDemonstrate strong operational skillsAn understanding of Urban Outfitters' culture and its appeal to the local marketAbility to drive sales through excellent service, strong visual presentation, and a full understanding of the businessThe PerksEqual Opportunity StatementURBN is an Equal Opportunities Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
