As Utilities Process Engineer Expert, you will join our Department TEAM (Technology based Activities and Methods) which deals, among others, with the process design of Utilities, Offsite and Water Treatment Units, in the business line Energy Carriers.
Utilities Process Engineer is a professional engineer who elaborate, define, size and validate the various items, units and technical deliverables to be implemented in projects of various industrial sectors including sustainable natural gas, CO2 capture and management, fertilizers, biorefineries, power plants and waste recovery/recycling management.
The responsibilities of an Utilities Process Engineer are to: Define the utilities requirements and develop Heat and Material Balances using simulation software Develop Utilities Flow diagrams to show unit operations Define and size Equipment and Instrumentation to be implemented and issue relevant Process Data sheets and Duty Specifications Elaborate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs) Elaborate Cause and Effect Matrix Develop Control Narratives and Logic Sequences Perform hydraulic and thermal calculations on piping systems, in steady state and transient operation Define chemicals and catalysts requirements and prepare the relevant summaries and / or material requisitions Define quantities and characteristics of effluents to be disposed to the environment Support the preparation of Operating Manual and Test Run procedures Take part of the multidisciplinary project reviews such as Plot Plan, P IDs, HAZOP, 3D Model, . . .
Coordinate with project team including other technical disciplines, such as process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation to ensure the integration and compatibility of the utilities systems with the overall process plant.
Ensure that the utilities systems comply with the applicable codes, standards, regulations, and best practices.
QUALIFICATION: Degree in Chemical Engineering KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE: good, both written and spoken LABOUR RELATIONSHIP: permanent contract YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: about 10 years in the role with direct experience in designing significant utilities systems, such as steam and power generation facilities, water treatment units, flare systems in onshore or floaters applications IT SKILLS: Candidate expected to be familiar with the software commonly used while designing utilities and water treatment systems (Pipenet, Aspen Flare System Analyzer, Thermoflow, Hysys, . . . ) and with drawings mark up tools (e. g.
Bluebeam or Autocad).
SOFT SKILLS: Communication skills: communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, contractors, and managers.
He/she needs to explain technical concepts in simple terms, write clear.
Teamwork skills: collaborate with other engineers and professionals having different disciplines and backgrounds.
He/she needs to listen and to respect different opinions, share knowledge and ideas, and contribute to the common goals and objectives of the team.
Problem-solving skills: to be able to identify and analyze problems, evaluate, and implement solutions.
He/she needs to apply his engineering knowledge and skills creatively and innovatively.
Adaptability skills: to adapt to changing situations and requirements, such as new technologies, regulations, standards, or customer needs.
He/she needs to adapt and apply knowledge and skills to new and different environments and situations.
NICE TO HAVE: Projects execution often foresees involvement of international branches or partners; in addition, plants commissioning and start up generally require support from process engineering.
Consequently, even though the main location for the position will be Milan, availability for international mobility is requested.
