Within Piano Nazionale Complementare al PNRR (PNC) initiative FBK is looking for a technologist in the field of Digital Pathology.
Workplace Description The activities will be carried out at the laboratories of the Data Science for Health (DSH) Research Unit of FBK.
For project-related needs concerning the PNC D3-4-Health project, the employee may be required to partially perform their work duties at the U. O.
Pathological Anatomy and Histology, S. Chiara Hospital in Trento.
The Data Science for Health (DSH) Research Unit -within the Digital Health & Wellbeing Center of FBK- focuses on the design, the development, and the implementation of predictive models for the life sciences.
In particular, statistical machine learning and deep learning algorithms are applied to integrated health data such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), different levels of -omics data and bioimages of diverse nature, from CT, PET, MRI scan to Digital Pathology WSIs.
Job Description FBK is looking for a candidate to cover the position of Technologist with a dynamic, highly motivated technologist in the field of digital pathology, image management and interpretation algorithms and the analysis and interpretation of the expression of biomarkers on human tissues for the DSH Unit of the Digital Health and Wellbeing Center.
Within the Project, the expected activities will be:
the management of the cases to be examined, ensuring the correct acquisition of clinical documentation, of histological preparations and the verification of the acquisition of informed consent from patients; to carry out biomarker expression investigations on human tissues using immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence and in situ nucleic acid hybridization techniques; to ensure the scanning of histological preparations and the correct archiving of slides and files of the related scans; to collect and tabulate the data of the original diagnosis and that provided by the artificial intelligence algorithms; to collaborate with pathologists in the analysis of histological cases and in the management of cases to be subjected to external control; to collaborate with researchers dedicated to developing artificial intelligence algorithms; to carry out preliminary analysis of the collected data; to collaborate in the drafting of work reports, project progress and scientific works.
Job requirements The Ideal Candidate should have:
Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences or related fields; Master Degree in Biology, Medicine and Surgery, Medical Biotechnology or related fields; at least 3 years post-master experience in relevant fields; basic knowledge of the processes of sampling and processing of human tissues for diagnostic purposes in digital pathology; knowledge of histological stains and immunohistochemical investigations, both from a technical and interpretative point of view; general knowledge of digital pathology: scanning histological specimens, image management, use of image archiving systems, use of artificial intelligence programs; computer and digital skills (ability to operate a personal computer with common applications and essential knowledge of information technology at the general user level); competence in the field of bibliographic investigations using the main search engines (e. g.
Pubmed); Excellent knowledge of the Italian language; Experience in working for research projects; Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills; Time management, planning, and development skills; Accuracy, flexibility, proactivity, and goal orientation.
