Work And Family Life Specialist
This position is established as a Work and Family Life (WFL) Specialist. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer and counsel eligible personnel on various WFL issues and provide information and referral services at the designated installation. Programs and services are delivered, promoted and often coordinated with/through FFSC staff members and various stakeholders throughout the chain of command, military and civilian community. Knowledge of, and experience in, the delivery of education services, with a focus on human/personal growth and development.
Knowledge and skill in developing and evaluating needs assessments. Ability to collect, evaluate, and disseminate information; assess and measure organizations' and other serviced populations' trends, concerns, and needs; assist in identifying and prioritizing goals; and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans, procedures, and tools to address such issues.
Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns and issues and provide assistance to develop goals and plans, in order to determine appropriate referral services and options.
Skill in preparation of presentations and public speaking in personal- large and small group settings. Effective skill in forming and retaining working relationships with peers and leadership. Skill in using various computer software database, spreadsheet, word processing, and network programs (e. g. , as Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and FFSP databases). Knowledge of the formulation and execution of needs assessment tools. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to prepare and present findings and recommend solutions, and compose a variety of correspondence, budget justifications/requests, instructions, and other materials.
Skill in conducting interviews with management and staff to obtain or exchange information about work objectives, processes, procedures and policies. Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact, diplomacy, and overall professionalism in interactions with customers, leadership of commands and organizations, partnering agencies, and with program representatives and officials of community organizations.
